What captured your attention towards florals and ceramics?
I was around 18 and taking classes at Cone Ten and working part time at Harbinger. I’ve always had this sentiment of having beautiful objects around, and my mindset changed from store-bought home goods to creating handmade items.
How has living in Charleston influenced you?
I love this place and I have grown so much being here. I’m so glad I developed my passion here in my 20s, and I feel that in my 30s I can just take the confidence that I have to a place where my work will stick out—here, New York, or anywhere.
How would you describe your creative style?
It’s definitely my personality. Just being around things that are elevated in their design inspires me and makes the day go by. My art is a reflection of the joys of celebrating.
Our biggest takeaway was the idea that cities, like relationships, can serve you for a time—teaching you things—before you move into what life has next for you.
